Dreams. Everybody has some. But how many of us actually get them?
The idea of a dream is so "dreamy" in itself. It has to be something unattainable, far from your current reality, and more of a wish.
Why your dreams never come true?
In most cases, you are in self-doubt. For example, If you want to create a painting and you see someone's painting, you start wondering that it is so good and you would never be able to beat that. As a result, you would give up on that idea itself. You might have done a better job who knows. But you're never gonna find out until you try and keep on trying.
We live in a place where we get judged instantly. So, this is another big reason for not starting up. The fear of trial often blocks you from starting what you really want to do. Not many of us can handle negative comments or feedback about our work. As a result, we are afraid of putting out ourselves in the public.
How to be the architect of your dreams?
First and foremost, you need to break that barrier in your head that people are better than you. You must try and then you can always improve slowly. Do not get intimidated but inspired. This will help you to start.
If you face criticism or fear of judgement, do read these ideas which can help you overcome that.
Once after you start your journey, let's see how to not make peace with the fact that your dreams will remain only dreams. Take out your notebook and get ready to achieve all your dreams.
1. Dream but let's be practical
The truth is, you want to reach the stars but no one wants to become an astronaut for it. You might get the missing element - The practicality of a dream. Have a dream which is more feasible. It can be distant but attainable with all your capabilities.
Action points: Write down your dream which you always wanted to achieve but could never do due to whatever reasons.
2. Have a RoadMap for your dreams
Have a detailed plan of how you will reach your goal. A Roadmap is something more elaborate than your 5-year plan. Let's take the example of a vacation. When we plan to self-drive to a destination, we literally decide each and everything about it. The vehicle of your choice, the route that you're gonna take, the place where you'd stay, etc. You should start writing a journal where you would detail out everything.
Action points: Plan the steps of reaching the goals and the skills and resources you would need.
3. Break down your dream statement
Break down your dream statement into further shorter goals. For example, If I want to be a billionaire, I should break it down to further goals like having a profitable business, Investment portfolio, building a team, etc. Similarly, you can break your dream into subgoals which would eventually lead to the ultimate dream. These subgoals would make the way easier.
Action points: List out the helper goals or the subgoals in your journal. Create a flow diagram for the entire dream architecture.
4.Create Checkpoints in the journey of your dreams
Apart from some goals, you would also need some checkpoints. For example, If I intend to be a billionaire, million-dollar net worth would be my checkpoints. Reaching checkpoints would give you a sense of positivity and the possibility that you can reach the destination.
Action points: Figure out the checkpoints of your journey towards your dream. Highlight them well.
5. Tracking your progress towards your dream
You are all set but if you don't track you are lost. It is just like if on the self-drive trip we lost the way. Will we ever reach our destination? probably no. It is important to see where you are each day. Why am I stressing at "daily" is because we don't breathe occasionally, right? It must be as important as breathing. I don't mean the urgency of it but the consistency.
Action points: Start your day with your journal and end your day with it. Write down what have you done today.
6. Celebrate your achievements
We always want more. While working towards your dream it is very likely to happen that you will give up and lose focus or change your direction completely. All of these happens because you are not motivated enough. When you celebrate your small wins, you get some self-motivation. It is very crucial in order to keep doing more and more.
Action points: Celebrate the checkpoints, subgoal accomplishments, and your personal events equally.
Bonus Tip!: In this journey, you are bound to meet some failures. A flat tyre, a failed launch or an income loss, It can be anything. Get mentally prepared for it. These should not stop you from doing what you want to do. Quitting should never be an option for you.
Conclusion
Dreaming is easy but making your dream come true is challenging. But what is life without challenges? It would be so dull. So, don't wait for anything and start from now. Be that astronaut, take that self-drive trip and become the next billionaire. Live for your dream.
